As the school year comes to an end, it is fun to give students some activities to enjoy over the summer. I don’t give homework packets. Yuck! But I do love challenging them to read a couple of books and write in a journal. Every student won’t do it, but many will if we make it fun! I think that your students will enjoy these summer writing menus!
There is a menu for June, July, and August. Each menu has nine prompts. There are narrative, open, and informational prompts. Students can choose a new prompt each week and write in a journal or notebook.
We were very careful to include engaging prompts that students will enjoy!
These menus are ideal for students in grades 2-5.
I included some simple instructions for your students. All you have to do is send the document via email, Google Classroom, or whatever other way you normally communicate with your students.
Did I mention that they are FREE!?

You are already sending me multiple emails everyday. Why do I need to give you my email again to access the free summer writing?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PROVIDING SUCH AMAZING ITEMS FOR FREE. It is difficult at this time for all of us in the teaching profession. With so many people without jobs and able to afford the “extras”, I just want you to know that all of your effort is truly appreciated.
May all the good you do for others come back to you with many blessings!
BJ
Thanks Jamie! These are GREAT!

Jamie,
I understand how much time and effort it takes to create the things you do. That’s why I appreciate every effort you are making to help us be successful with distance learning. From the bottom of my heart thank you for every video lesson, freebie, discount, and video message. You are an amazing person and we are all so lucky to have found you and your resources. Jamie,
I am so thankful to have found all of your YouTube videos and resources on TPT. Just before school shut down for the rest of the year, I was hired to teach fourth grade next year. I am THRILLED!!! I haven’t had my own classrooom in over 20 years and can hardly wait (although things will likely not be “normal’). You have really helped by thinking and planning for math, reading and writing next year. I am really looking forward to implementing your Math and Writer’s Workshop models. It’s going to be AWESOME !! Thanks so much!!!!

Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us! It is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for ALL of your resources! The students loved the lessons also! Have you thought about making a Grammar packet for 2nd grade standards? That would be WONDERFUL! ?
